Sikana was formed in 2006 by Hilary and Val Dumitrescu. After enjoying rewarding but demanding careers in teaching and publishing, we were determined to spend as much time with our children as possible. So we decided to find a way to make a career out of full-time freelancing. Individual assignments led to bigger projects, so we invited colleagues to join us.

We are teachers, novelists, poets and children’s authors. We are creators with keen eyes for unique, engaging, deeply meaningful content that reflects the realities of our complex modern society. We create banks of original assessment items, teacher-focused materials and student manuals. We focus on aligning all our materials with current demands of online learning platforms and on serving the diversity of learning needs present in student populations across the country.
